60-Year-Old Faces Arson Charge After Fire At A Hudson Valley Home
Arson investigators arrested the Village of Airmont resident following a fire at the Rockland County home on Monday.
RAMAPO, NY — A Rockland County man is facing an arson charge after a suspicious fire at a private residence.
On Monday, Town of Ramapo Police Department officers responded to reports of a fire in the Village of Airmont. Officers saw smoke coming from the area of a balcony/porch at the address, but no active fire, when they arrived.
The fire seemed to have started in some trash cans that were on the porch, according to police. No evidence of structural damage to the home was found.

Ramapo Police Department detectives and the Rockland County Sheriff's Arson Unit also responded to the scene. After investigating, a 60-year-old Airmont resident was arrested and charged with second degree arson and second degree criminal mischief.
He was arraigned Tuesday morning and bail was set at $25,000. The man was remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
