Beth Davidson's Democratic campaign for Congress in NY-17 has been awarded the 2026 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction for her advocacy for gun violence prevention and commitment to common sense gun safety legislation.
“Thanks to Moms Demand Action for again awarding me your gun sense distinction, this time in my campaign against Mike Lawler, said Davidson. "As a longtime gun safety advocate who brought gun violence prevention programs into Nyack Public schools as a school school board member and then pass the common sense gun safety law on the Rockland County legislature, I'm committed to flipping New York 17 so we can pass universal background checks and an assault weapons band to get weapons of war off our streets".
Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. Moms Demand Action is part of Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the United States, with nearly 10 million supporters and volunteer chapters in all 50 states.
Davidson, the only Democratic candidate in the NY-17 congressional race who has won previous election campaigns against Republicans and holds public legislative office, is currently an elected Rockland County Legislator and former Nyack School Board Vice President. A thyroid cancer survivor, she and her husband, Jeff moved to Nyack 20 years ago, where they are raising their two children, both of whom attend public school.
New York’s 17th Congressional District includes all of Rockland and Putnam Counties, northern Westchester County, and part of Dutchess County.
