CLARKSTOWN, NY — A potential tragedy was avoided when troopers safely put a stop to a dangerous drive on a busy interstate highway.
The New York State Police say that on troopers from Tarrytown arrested 44-year-old Shawn A. Brady, of Ridgefield Park, New Jersey for DWI after patrols intercepted him driving the wrong way along the shoulder of I-87, in Clarkstown.
NYSP said that at around 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, troopers saw a 2017 Toyota Tacoma traveling south on the I-87 north side of the highway.
After troopers stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, identified as Brady, they noticed signs of impairment. They then administered standardized field sobriety tests, which Brady failed.
He was arrested and taken to SP Tarrytown for processing, where processing, where he was found to have a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.14 percent.
Brady was released to a sober third party, and was issued several traffic tickets. He is due in Clarkstown Town Court on June 10.
