NYACK, NY — A tractor-trailer crash near the Mario Cuomo Bridge brought traffic to a standstill and sent one person to the hospital.
At approximately 12:20 p.m. on Monday, state police assigned to Troop T, SP Tarrytown responded to the rollover crash on the New York State Thruway (I-87) southbound, in the village of South Nyack.
Investigators said that a 2020 Mack tractor-trailer struck the South Broadway Bridge overpass, then overturned and struck a 2025 Toyota sedan that was parked on the right shoulder off the highway.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to Nyack Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to NYSP. The driver of the tractor-trailer reported no injuries.
The driver of the tractor trailer was identified as 50-year-old Pernell Harris, of York, South Carolina. He was ticketed for an over-height vehicle. The vehicle is registered to Eastern Express, Inc. of Indiana.
All lanes of traffic are now open, as of 4 p.m., according to NYSP.
