SPRING VALLEY, NY — A month-long investigation into illegal gambling has led to the arrests of two men, police said.
Detective Matthew Galli said Monday police have charged Cesar Hernandez-Amparo, 46, of Hillcrest, and Jose Chavez-Torres, 50, of Spring Valley.
Each man is accused of first-degree promoting gambling, second-degree possession of gambling records, and possession of a gambling device.
Spring Valley police on Aug. 12 executed multiple search warrants related to illegal gambling operations at 44 N. Main St. and 26 N. Main St., according to Galli.
The raids followed a month-long investigation, which included assistance from the New York State Police and Rockland County Sheriff's Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
The Spring Valley Police Department is asking anyone with information to call 845-356-7400 or email tips@villagespringvalley.org.
