ORANGETOWN, NY — An early morning police chase ended with a bang.
On Thursday, at 3:44 a.m., the New York State Police said they tried to stop a 2021 Audi Q5 traveling on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Orangetown, but the driver, identified as 31-year-old Terrence McNair, of Garner, North Carolina, instead led police on a pursuit.
The high-speed pursuit continued for approximately four miles before the Audi struck a guardrail, bringing the pursuit to an end, according to NYSP.
McNair was arrested and charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
McNair was taken to SP Haverstraw, where he was processed. He was issued an appearance ticket directing him to appear in Orangetown Town Court on Oct. 20, but police learned that McNair was wanted on outstanding warrants, including a warrant out of the New York State Police Hawthorne barracks and a warrant out of the State of Pennsylvania.
McNair was lodged at the Westchester County Jail pending extradition on the Pennsylvania warrant.
