'Battle of the Boroughs' Basketball Tourney in Spring Valley

More than 250 people gathered at Memorial Park in Spring Valley last month to watch The New York Foundling’s annual Battle of the Boroughs basketball tournament for individuals with developmental disabilities.

About 65 adults receiving care from The Foundling’s Developmental Disabilities programs participated, with 45 playing against one another in friendly and fun basketball games and 20 as cheerleaders on the sidelines. Players were cheered on by their family, friends and New York Foundling employees.

The New York Foundling, a nonprofit supporting kids, families, and individuals with developmental disabilities in and around New York City, hosts the event each year to showcase and celebrate the determination, independence, and abilities of those in its care.
