Black Friday Shoplifting Arrests Turn Violent
Two people accused of stuffing men's clothes into a booster bag are under arrest and Clarkstown police are searching for a third.

NEW CITY, NY — A man and a woman are under arrest and Clarkstown police are looking for another man after a shoplifting incident at the Palisades Center Mall on Black Friday that ended up injuring an officer. The officer was hurt in a scuffle when the woman resisted being placed in a cell at Clarkstown Police headquarters in New City.
The officer sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released from Nyack Hospital's emergency room, police said. The woman was also treated and released from Nyack ER.
At about 5 p.m Friday, the Clarkstown Police Department responded to Lord and Taylor in the mall for a report of three suspects filling a “booster” bag with stolen merchandise.

As the officers arrived, the three were leaving the store. The store loss prevention officer attempted to stop the man holding the merchandise, who instead threw it all at the store employee and ran off. He was described as a male black in his twenties, wearing a brown and green jacket and red pants with white stripes.
The other two were apprehended by police. They were taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing. Both fought during the arrest process.

The stolen merchandise was valued at $2,615 and consisted of men’s clothing.
The suspects were identified as Jayquan Nash, 27, of Brooklyn and Jackie Whitehead, 24, of Brooklyn. While officers attempted to place Whitehead in a cell, she violently struggled, police said, and kicked one officer was kicked in the knee.
Nash was placed in a cell without incident.
Nash was charged with grand larceny 4th (felony), criminal possession of stolen property 4th (felony) and resisting arrest (misdemeanor).

Whitehead was charged grand larceny 4th (felony), assault 2nd (felony) and resisting arrest (misdemeanor).

They were arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $20,000. They were sent to Rockland County Jail. They will return to court Monday.
