Harvard Educational Review Recognizes The Talents Of RCDS
Michele Sommer, Art Dept. Chair, to be published in Harvard Educational Review
Michele Sommer, art instructor and Art Department Chair at Rockland Country Day School for over 13 years, will have her manuscript, "The Cream Does Not Always Rise: The Plight of Visual Spatial Learners and the Power of Art Education," published in the Harvard Educational Review (HER). In addition to this prestigious honor, Rockland Country Day School students' art work will also grace the cover of the Harvard Educational Review:
“It is quite rare that cover images for a Special Issue of HER come from the students of a featured author. That being said, we are greatly enthused by the opportunity to publish the reflective writing of a committed educator while highlighting the visual work of her students.” - Editorial Board of Harvard Educational Review

Rockland Country Day School has long been recognized as a school that upholds the educational value of the arts in balance with academics. The fourteen members of the Class of 2012 graduated as learned musicians, visual artists, and dramatic performers, and as recipients of over $200,000 in merit aid from colleges and universities of their choice; an impressive accomplishment for the school and its students.
“Visit them on the December 9, 2012 for their Winter Shopping Village, from 1PM-5PM.”
