In this special presentation, Haverstraw Town Historian Stephen Cobb highlights extraordinary stories, unsung heroes, and pivotal moments that shaped our community and played a vital role in the birth of American independence, including:

• Haverstraw’s role in drafting the Declaration of Independence
• The Haverstraw women who helped win the Battle of Stony Point
• The two Haverstraw farmers who foiled Arnold's treasonous plot
• The many Haverstraw residents who faced hardships during the long road to independence

About the presenter: About the presenter: Stephen Cobb studied history and geography at Brandeis University and recently retired as a librarian at Sleep Hollow High School. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Haverstraw King's Daughters Library and has been Haverstraw's Town Historian since 2009.
