Christmas Day Weather Forecast Released For The Hudson Valley

Bing Crosby's dreams won't be coming true this year. The National Weather Service has published its Christmas Day forecast and it's spot on for late December.

It will be warmer. After Friday, when high temperatures will be about 10 degrees below average, and Saturday, when temps will be around 5 degrees below average, the weather should spike up on Monday to positively balmy, with highs in the mid and high 40s.

For Christmas Day it'll be seasonal, in the lower 40s for Orange, Rockland and Westchester counties, and in the high 30s for Dutchess, Putnam and Ulster counties. The meteorologists are expecting a partly sunny day.

A long term forecast released earlier this month by the Old Farmer's Almanac had raised hopes for Christmas romantics, predicting a good chance of snow on the big day. Historical data gathered over years by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, however, shows the chances of Christmas Day snow were never good.

Here's the National Weather Service's forecast in detail for Yorktown:

Friday- Sunny, with a high near 29. Wind chill values between 10 and 20. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Friday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 10. North wind 3 to 6 mph.

Saturday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 31. Wind chill values between 10 and 20. Light and variable wind.

Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 21. Light southwest wind.

Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 43. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph.

Sunday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 30.

Monday- Sunny, with a high near 48.

Monday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 29.

Tuesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 43.

Tuesday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Christmas Day- Partly sunny, with a high near 41.

Wednesday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31.

Thursday- Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38.
