Cinco De Mayo: Yelp's 5 Best Mexican Restaurants Around New City

NEW CITY, NY — Friday is Cinco de Mayo, a holiday that marks a moment in Mexican history. It's mostly an American merchandising thing, actually. The holiday celebrates the date of the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France in the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War and Puebla is pretty much the only place in Mexico that notes it every year, the New York Daily News reports.

So, wanting to celebrate Mexican culture and heritage, many will flock to the area's taquerias and Mexican eateries to get their fix of the country's delicious cuisine. Those of legal drinking age will likely go for a cold margarita.
