The previous candidate had to withdraw.

CLARKSTOWN, NY — The Clarkstown Democrats are pleased to announce that Valley Cottage resident Tina Traster will be running for Town Council in Ward 2.
Tina Traster, a Valley Cottage resident for the past 16 years, is a socially-conscious, award-winning journalist, author, and filmmaker. Traster has actively participated in civic affairs in the Town of Clarkstown and Rockland County since she relocated from Manhattan with her family. She came to Clarkstown for a suburban lifestyle, good schools, an opportunity to rescue a very old farmhouse and cultivate the land, and to become part of the fabric of a “small” town. Everyone told Traster she’d miss Manhattan but she loved her new life in Rockland County from day one.

Traster’s deep commitment to equality and justice drives her energetic efforts to give voice to issues, be it concern for overdevelopment, environmental protection, animal welfare, educational, and quality-of-life issues. Traster has led and been successful in efforts to protect residential roads such as Mountainview Avenue, where she presides, from the pressures of overdevelopment. She has fought to protect the community’s water supply, shelter animals, the preservation of historic structures, and the population’s health and safety.
As a journalist, and the Editor/Publisher of Rockland County Business Journal, a 24/7 online news source, Traster has a unique vantage point in terms of governance. Simply put, she understands how things work and her ability to communicate will be an asset to represent the constituents of Ward 2. Traster’s long career has involved observation, synthesizing information, using that information to communicate on important issues, and at times, using the best of her journalist skills to advocate for change and justice. She looks forward to using her skills, passion, and energy to represent her friends and neighbors.
