Clarkstown Increases Patrols after More JCC Bomb Threats
Not only Jewish community centers but also synagogues and other houses of worship, officials said
NEW CITY, NY — Clarkstown Town Supervisor George Hoehmann and Captain Robert Mahon, Acting Chief of the Clarkstown Police Department, issued a joint statement regarding the nationwide threat against Jewish Community Centers:
“The recent nationwide threat against Jewish Community Centers are repugnant and deplorable; and we continue to closely monitor these incidents. The Clarkstown Police Department has stepped up patrols around all Synagogues, JCC Rockland and other houses of worship in Clarkstown. We will continue working with the leaders of our religious communities to ensure the safety of all our residents. We ask that anyone who observes something out of the ordinary please contact the Clarkstown Police Department at 639-5800 right away.”
In the wake of the latest series of bomb threats made to Jewish community centers Monday — two of which were in the Hudson Valley — public and private officials have condemned the acts of hatred.
This was the fifth wave of bomb threats against Jewish community centers around the country since the beginning of the year.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered an investigation into yesterday's bomb threats in Staten Island, Plainview, Tarrytown and New Rochelle by ordering the State Police to work with federal and local law enforcement to investigate the threats and bring those responsible to justice.
“Make no mistake: These reprehensible and cowardly attacks are not limited to the Jewish community,” he said.
