The Clarkstown Police Department is investigating a hit and run accident that occurred on Second Avenue in Nanuet.
Police need the public’s help in locating the vehicle and driver.
At 5:30 PM June 9, workers were repairing a natural gas cap in the roadway. A driver disregarded a flagman, who was standing on the corner of Second Avenue and Clinton Avenue, striking a worker who was bent down in the road making the repairs.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical attention. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping.
The victim is Arthur Babcock, 49, of Washingtonville, NY. He suffered many broken bones and lacerations about his entire body.

The Clarkstown Detective Bureau has been able to identify the vehicle that was involved in the incident.
The suspect vehicle is described as a gold Chevy Trailblazer or similar GMC type vehicle with a large black spot on rear driver’s side door and a possible push bumper type grill on the front bumper. The vehicle was driven by a Hispanic male, no further description is available. The vehicle was last seen travelling west on Clinton Avenue.
