Clarkstown Voters Heard On School Budget And Board

Here are the unofficial results from Tuesday's vote.

NEW CITY, NY -- Budgets, capital projects and board candidates were on the ballots for school districts across New York State. In Clarkstown, there were two fiscal propositions on the ballot, and three people running for three seats on the Board of Education.

The Clarkstown budget passed by a large margin. The capital Reserve Fund was renewed by voters. Tamara Bierker, Irene Tagaris and Christine Alia were elected to the Board of Education.

None of the districts in Rockland County asked voters to OK going over the state's mandated property tax cap.

The Clarkstown spending plan is $208,926,000, up 4.18 percent from the current year. The tax levy increase is 2.1 percent, equal to the property tax cap.

In addition, residents were asked to OK the district's Capital Reserve Fund for another decade.
