Clarkstown's High Schools On 'Best High School in New York' List
Niche.com ranked the best public high schools in the state according to everything from academics to resources.

In a recently released report, Niche.com included both Clarkstown North and Clarkstown South on its list of 100 top public high schools in New York.
The website evaluated schools based on key statistics, as well as parent and student reviews.
Clarkstown South was ranked 66th.

According to the report, teachers and extracurriculars scored an “A+” while academics, administration/policies, educational outcome and sports/fitness received ”A” grades. “A-” for food, health/safety and facilities/resources. Its lowest grade, a “B” was for student culture/diversity.
“Many different classes, enthusiastic teachers - some better than others - and a generally safe and enjoyable student life,” wrote a high school senior in a review of CSHS.

Clarkstown North came in at No. 100.
The school received an “A+” grade for teachers; “A” ratings for academics, administration/policies, educational outcomes and extracurriculars. It picked up “B+” for health/safety and sports/fitness; and “Bs” for resources/facilities and student culture/diversity. Its lowest grade, a “B-” was for food.
“Many teachers know and very much enjoy the topics they teach which make learning that much easier and that much more fun,” wrote a high school senior in an assessment of CNHS.
The website used a detailed set of methods to rank 14,431 public high schools across the country and collected 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents.
According to Niche.com, a high overall ranking includes the following criteria:
- Students are very happy with their experience in all aspects including academics, teachers, health, safety, resources, facilities, extracurriculars, sports, and fitness;
- District schools are exceptional academic institutions in terms of teachers, students, resources for learning, and student outcomes;
- District schools are made up of a diverse population and fosters an accepting, positive school culture;
- Students are actively involved in a variety of extracurriculars and sports the district offers.
