Collision, Shooting In New City: UPDATE

One man is in the hospital, and Clarkstown police are looking for a white sedan they believe was involved.

UPDATE — Clarkstown police officers who responded to the scene of a reported shooting and car crash found multiple shell casings in the roadway. The victim, a 29-year-old, drove himself to Nyack Hospital for medical treatment.

It was determined that he received two gunshot wounds, one to the face and one to the back. He has been transported to Westchester Medical Center and his status is serious but stable.

The Detective Bureau is currently investigating to determine the circumstances as to why this incident occurred and who was involved.

NEW CITY, NY — The Clarkstown Police Department is investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred at 1:10 p.m. on West Burda Place in New City.

Responding officers interviewed residents of the area who stated that they heard multiple shots being fired outside, plus what sounded like a vehicle accident.

"We have located one victim, an man who drove himself to an local hospital where he is being treated," police said.

The man was shot. Neither his identification nor condition is known at this time, police said at 2 p.m.

A second vehicle believed involved is described as a white sedan, unknown registration, unknown description of the occupant(s).
