Congers Cosmetics Manufacturer Deemed 'Non-Essential'
Intercos America, Inc. closed its plant in Congers and laid off 200 workers.
CONGERS, NY — The new coronavirus outbreak and the shut-down of the economy forced Intercos America, Inc. to lay off most of its staff, according to documents filed with the state. The Rockland County-based company cited "unforeseeable business circumstances prompted by COVID-19" as the reason for the plant shutdown.
The cosmetic manufacturer has 352 employees at its two sites, in Congers and West Nyack.
The temporary plant closing affects 204 employees, according to the New York state Labor Department.
