Cops Nab Ramapo Fugitive Who Escaped From Rye Brook Standoff: Police

Police entered a home on Fellowship Lane after a brief standoff. The wanted man had already made his getaway, but not for long, police said.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The man who eluded a manhunt and a brief standoff at his mother's Westchester County home was taken into custody and has been returned to Rockland County to face charges in connection with a domestic violence incident involving a gun, according to authorities.

"Jonathan Larywon was arrested late last night (4/21/2022) by Rye Brook Police and turned over to Ramapo Police," the Rye Brook Police Department said in a statement released Friday morning.

The wanted man managed to barely elude officers after being spotted at his mother's house in Rye Brook on Wednesday, according to police.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday, Ramapo police contacted the Rye Brook Police Department about a domestic violence incident that involved a firearm. Police thought that the suspect, identified as Jonathon Larywon, might have fled to his mother's house on Fellowship Lane in Rye Brook.

An initial visit by Rye Brook police found that the house was empty.

During a return visit, just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers spotted Larywon's car at the house and later saw a man fitting Larywon's description inside the home. Officers tried to make contact with the man, whom officers said would not speak with them or come out of the house owned by Larywon's mother.

Rye Brook police contacted the Westchester County Police Special Response Team for assistance safely executing an arrest warrant from Rockland County.

At 1:22 a.m. Thursday, police entered the home and searched for Larywon, but he had managed to escape some time before officers could safely and legally enter the residence, police said.

Larywon faces charges in connection with the domestic incident on Wednesday, according to police.
