Cuomo Redirects Snow-Clearing Efforts to Central NY from Long Island, NYC
The Mid Hudson and Central New York are being much harder-hit than NYC and Long Island, the governor said in a briefing. BREAKING
New York officials are busily redeploying snow clearing crews and equipment into Central New York since the storm overnight tracked west and north of Long Island and New York City.
"Mother Nature is an unpredictable lady, she was unpredictable once again today," said Gov. Andrew Cuomo at a 10 a.m. briefing. "The less good news, when the storm moved west, it increased the totals in other parts of the state. The Mid Hudson area has been hit very hard. Blizzard conditions are still forecasted for Mid Hudson and the Capital District. The most hard-hit part of the state is the Southern Tier and Central New York."
The railroads are seeing very significant low ridership, 10-15 percent of what they normally see on a weekday, officials said.

"People are staying off the roads which is smart," Cuomo said. "View this through the window, it looks beautiful through the window, step outside it's not as beautiful."
In New York City, where snow and sleet are bringing much less accumulation than predicted Monday, officials are carefully watching the temperatures because if the sleet turns to ice, that will make the Wednesday morning commute difficult.

Cuomo ended with a request, that people check on their neighbors, specially the elderly and infirm.
"When things are at their worst New Yorkers are at their best," he said. "This is the time to be a good neighbor."
