Day, O&R, Local Officials To Discuss Outages, Response

The need is to identify any and all strategies that can improve storm response and recovery efforts, said the county executive.

NEW CITY, NY – County Executive Ed Day and Robert Sanchez, CEO and President, of Orange & Rockland Utilities, plan to meet with local municipal leaders to discuss concerns with O&R’s coordination and response strategies that have been brought to light by the latest nor’easters. This meeting will be held after O&R completes its own post event analysis, Day said in an announcement Tuesday.

“It is critical that we as a County continue to work collaboratively to identify any and all strategies that can improve storm response and recovery efforts,” Day said. “The goal now is to move forward so future storm response efforts are handled in the most efficient manner possible.”

Day said he has invited all Village Mayors, Town Supervisors, NY State Assemblymembers and NY State Senators representing Rockland to attend and voice their concerns.

Also, he said many residents have reached out to their local elected officials with their comments and experiences from the recent storms and encouraged them to continue that practice to ensure everyone attending can best address the recent challenges of these storms.

“We in government have heard, loud and clear, the concerns of our residents and will use any resources available to improve recovery efforts and strategies for future storms. We will move forward with deliberate resolve,” Day said.
