Deadline is Oct. 9 for 2015 Pride of Clarkstown Awards

Make sure the businesses you've noticed get credit for beautifying their properties.

Clarkstown town officials seek nominations for the 2015 Pride of Clarkstown Awards.

The program, now in its 10th year, is designed to recognize outstanding commercial properties, nominated by individuals and civic organizations for their efforts to beautify their properties and in turn the Town of Clarkstown.

The award program coincides with the town’s downtown revitalization efforts, which started in 2004 to encourage pedestrian activity, investment in local businesses and civic pride. In 2006, Supervisor Alex Gromack and the town board established the program and a committee under the leadership of the late Clarkstown Councilman Ralph Mandia.

The deadline for this year’s submissions is Oct. 9.

A committee of volunteers separate nominations by various categories. They visit every nominated site and meet many times to choose winners in each category. The program is an incentive for other property owners to create even more attractive commercial locations in the Town. The following are the Pride of Clarkstown award categories:
