TOMKINS COVE, NY — A deer darted across Route 9W Sunday as a bicyclist in the Gran Fondo race was riding down Route 9W in Stony Point, The Journal News reported. The deer knocked her off her bike and she hit her head on a curb.
The woman, a 48-year-old Canadian, was taken to Westchester Medical Center. The deer wandered off dazedly into nearby woods, a neighbor told TJN.
The Gran Fondo is an annual ride from the George Washington Bridge to Bear Mountain and back. It involves thousands of bicyclists.
