DeSantis Hudson Valley Fundraising Visit Expected To Draw Protests
A coalition of LGBTQ+ groups are organizing a demonstration to greet the declared presidential candidate in Rockland County.

SUFFERN, NY — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will bring his campaign for president to the Hudson Valley June 29, asking supporters in Rockland County to dig deep into their wallets to fund his run.
It is likely opponents of his controversial Florida policies will rally in protest during his visit to the Crowne Plaza Suffern.
Organizers are urging demonstrators to sign up to "protest the Republican presidential candidate who's against abortion, fair voting rights, greenhouse gas reduction, immigrants, queer rights, sensible gun laws, trans kids, Disney, and so much more."

According to the Journal News, the $6,000 a plate private fundraising event for the DeSantis campaign is being organized by investor Seth Gribetz.
"I’m thrilled to be hosting a fundraiser for Gov. DeSantis because of his consistently pro-Israel policies and longstanding support of the Jewish community," Gribetz told the newspaper. "I was especially proud of Gov. DeSantis for signing anti hate-crime legislation just a few weeks ago in Jerusalem. The Governor’s unwavering commitment to fighting anti-Semitism is inspiring."

DeSantis opponents, however, say the the political firebrand's rhetoric has no place in the Hudson Valley, especially during Pride Month celebrations.
"It's a slap in the face for our community," Joseph Coe, one of the organizers of the protest, told LoHud's Chris McKenna.
