Driver Accused Of Damaging Lawn, Mailboxes While Drunk: Police

The 70-year-old was eastbound on Route 210 when the incident occurred.

STONY POINT, NY — A 70-year-old Haverstraw man who police said drove across a lawn and sideswiped a row of mailboxes faces a charge of driving while intoxicated in Stony Point.

At 4:13 p.m. Saturday, patrol officers were dispatched to Central Highway and Route 210 for a one car vehicle accident. Police said Peter Didenko was eastbound on Route 210 when the incident occurred.

After an investigation, he was placed under arrest, processed and released on an appearance ticket.

He is due back in Stony Point Justice Court on June 8.
