Eagle Scout Ceremony for Christopher Voce
Voce replaced the fence at the Veterans Memorial Association in Congers for his Eagle Scout project.

Christopher Voce, 18 received the rank of Eagle Scout today.
Voce’s Eagle Scout Project was to replace the old fence along the property line of the Veterans Memorial Association on Lake Road in Congers. The fence was worn down, falling apart, and covered in foliage.
In order to replace the fence, Voce and fellow Scouts cleared the area of all debris, garbage, and foliage. Using shovels, wheelbarrows, and levels, they dug 20 holes along the property line, placed pressure-treated wooden posts in each hole, and filled them with gravel mix. Stockade fencing was then placed along the posts.

Voce also found a large number of cement parking barriers behind the fence in the foliage, which he replaced into their proper spots in the parking lot. Bushes were planted at the edge of the fence, as well as a final coating of waterproof exterior stain on both sides of the fence. Volunteers from both the Boy Scouts, the Congers Fire Department, family, and friends assisted him in this project.
Alexander Gromack, Town Supervisor, Clarkstown; George Hoehmann, Town Councilman, Clarkstown; Chris Carey, Rockland County Legislator; and Edward Day, Rockland County Executive, were all in attendance.

Voce, who is attending Rockland Community College and majoring in communications media arts, is also a volunteer firefighter in Congers.
“I can’t be any prouder of my little brother Chris,” said his brother Frank Voce, who is also an Eagle Scout and a volunteer firefigher. “My mother Pat Voce, is a community health nurse at Nyack Hospital home care. She is also a committee woman for the Clarkstown Republicans and a delegate. My father Frank Voce works for the Rockland County highway department and is also a volunteer firefighter for Congers and former president. He was also a past chairman of the Clakrstown Republican party and past president for the Rockland County Volunteer Fireman’s Association. As you can see the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. All of us love to give back to the community and help others.”
