Emergency Medical Providers Appeal For Supplies

As the new coronavirus spreads throughout the Hudson Valley, personal protective equipment is in high demand and short supply.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Mobile Life Support Services, one of the largest emergency medical providers in the Hudson Valley, has joined other first responders in appealing for personal protection equipment to be donated or made available for purchase during the new coronavirus outbreak.

PPE includes N95 masks, surgical masks, eye protection, splash guards, gloves, gowns, decontamination supplies and more.

"Health care providers across the nation are facing a shortage of PPE items. In recent weeks, Mobile Life’s usage of protective equipment has gone up exponentially in order to protect our crews who are out serving the community during these unprecedented times," Mobile Life President and CEO Scott Woebse told Patch. "Our county governments and emergency response teams have been doing a great job of doing everything they can to secure these items. And thanks to a local dentist and some other sources, we have received some additional equipment to assist us."

Because of the generous donation of PPE from a local dentist whose office is now closed (the dentist wished to remain anonymous), Mobile Life was able to restock some items it had difficulty obtaining.

It is seeing additional unused, new PPE in original packaging from closed medical or dental offices or other businesses that have such protective equipment — to be sold or donated to local EMS providers or to Mobile Life Support Services.

PPE is essential in keeping health care providers — including front-line personnel such as emergency service technicians (EMTs), paramedics and others — safe and healthy so they may continue to serve the community and respond to emergencies of all types. PPE is in high demand and short supply during the current COVID-19 crisis.

People are asked to contact Mobile Life Support Services at media@mobilelife.com or call 845-561-5698, ext. 251, so Mobile Life can arrange a pickup or drop-off of these supplies. "Thank you for your help in advance as we work together for the health and well-being of our community," he said.
