Please join us in celebrating our Annual India Day Parade and Festival on Sunday, August 26th, 2012 from 11:30 am onwards. The Parade will start from the New City Library grounds, walk along North Main Street and culminate at the Rockland County Court House grounds on Main Street. This will be followed by the Festival on the Court House grounds, which will include a cultural program, displays from the local community, several vendors, delicious Indian food and a carnival for kids. The program is open to all and we expect attendance to exceed 1500 people.
India Cultural Society of Rockland (ICSR) is a non-profit organization representing over 500 families of Indian origin in the county of Rockland. The mission of the ICSR is to promote and maintain Indian traditions, customs, art and music in our younger generations as well as the community at large. We are proud to be recognized by the County Legislature for our efforts and are deeply indebted for its support over the years. Every year we celebrate India Day with this Parade and Festival to showcase India’s rich culture in its various forms. This year we have made it more accessible, have more vendors and displays and have included a carnival for children. The vibrant cultural program will include several dance and music performances, ranging from classical to traditional to contemporary.
We would be delighted if you could join us at 11:30 am at the New City library and march with us in the Parade, stay for the ensuing colorful program and join in the festivities.
