Rockland Country Day School Students Show Off Their Talents at “Open Galleries” Art Exhibit!
The Rockland Country Day School Art Department is thrilled to host an "Open Galleries" art exhibit on campus June 13th, 14th and 15th, 8:00AM-4:00PM. We are very excited that we have the opportunity to share the magnitude of creativity that is generated by our multi-talented students. The RCDS Art Department and the school’s art teacher, Michele Kari Sommer, are honored to have been nominated twice, including 2012, for the Rockland County Executive Arts Awards.
This particular exhibit will feature self-portrait sculptures created by 5th through 12th grade students. The school's art teacher received an arts education grant from the Arts Council of Rockland for this cross-curricular project titled Creative Visualization: Internal Landscape Self-Portraits. Come see for yourself how our students’ interpretation of this project exemplifies the boundless creativity that is promoted in our community.
This educational program is made possible, in part, with funds from the Arts Education Grants Program of the Arts Council of Rockland and the Arts-in-Education Program of the New York State Council on the Arts.
