FBI Offers $20K For Hudson Valley Suspect In In-Law Shooting

Eugene Palmer is the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Case of the Week.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — The subject of a six-year manhunt, Eugene Palmer is the only suspect in the shooting death of his daughter-in-law in 2012 in Stony Point. He disappeared into Harriman State Park Sept. 24 and has not been seen since.

His family believes he died in the park, but law enforcement officials don't agree. An experienced hunter and outdoorsman, he knew the park well.

Investigators think he's living out of state under an assumed name.

After a local arrest warrant was issued for Palmer in Rockland and he was charged with murder, a federal warrant was issued on June 10, 2013, by the United States Court for the Southern District of New York after Palmer was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Palmer, then 73, lived across the street from Tammy Palmer, a 36-year-old mother of two. Reports said Tammy Palmer and her husband were estranged. Palmer is said to have told his niece what he had done before fleeing.
