AIRMONT, NY — Firefighters from several departments in Rockland County have responded to a home in Airmont late Wednesday morning to fight what was first reported as a smoke condition but quickly advanced to a massive blaze.
Among the responding departments: Tallman, Suffern, Mahwah, Monsey, Hillcrest, Sloatsburg and Spring Valley as well as emergency medical services, according to Rockland Fires on Facebook. The fire inspector and BCI also responded.
Rockland Daily reported that a person was taken into custody for setting the fire. The news outlet obtained footage of heavy, orange flames and thick, black smoke shooting out of the top story of the home.
