Flag Raising Ceremony in Congers

It was part of a Clarkstown districtwide effort to replace American flags at the schools.

NEW CITY, NY — New York State Senator David Carlucci will be replacing all tattered American flags and supplying POW/MIA flags to all of the Clarkstown Central School District buildings over the next school year.

To kick it off, the district held a ceremony attended by veterans, Clarkstown Superintendent of Schools Marty Cox, Carlucci, about 50 toddlers and Pre-K students from the Clarkstown Child Care and Early Learning Program and Community Learning Center programs.

The kids sang "A Grand Old Flag" at the event, which was held Friday at the Community Learning Center in Congers.
