Flood Warning Issued for Rockland
Up to 3.5 inches of rain are possible. Haverstraw, Monsey, Nanuet and New City were singled out by the National Weather Service.

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a Flood Warning until 1:15 p.m. for Urban Areas and Small Streams in Rockland County. Passaic and northern Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey, as well as northern Westchester County and southeastern Orange County in southeastern New York are also in the warning.
The NWS said "At 1015 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause flooding. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Another one to one and a half inches of rain is expected by early this afternoon. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways,streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low-lying spots."
Some locations that will experience flooding include Paterson, Wayne, New City, Paramus, Ossining, Ridgewood, Peekskill, Monsey, Nanuet, Ramsey, Ringwood, Haverstraw, Tarrytown, Pompton Lakes and Mount Kisco.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
