Flood Warning Persists For Rockland County

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for Small Streams in Rockland County as well as Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey. It's in effect until 4 p.m. Saturday.

At 657 AM EST, reporting gauges indicate indicate several rivers and streams across Bergen County NJ and Rockland County NY remain above flood stage. Minor flooding is occurring and while most have crested, a few are still rising. These rivers crested overnight, and are slowly falling back down towards their flood stage.

Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hackensack, New City, Bergenfield, Paramus, Ridgewood, Lyndhurst, Monsey, Rutherford, Nanuet, Ramsey, Haverstraw, Ridgefield, Suffern, Nyack and Tappan.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

  • Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
  • Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
  • A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
