Friends of the New City Library Holds First Meeting
Attendees learn about groups' three primary goals.

The Steering Committee for the newly revived held its first meeting earlier this month. About 20 people attended the session along with the eight-member steering committee and three representatives of the library’s Teen Advisory Council. The group is an independent, not-for-profit organization.
According to Library Director Chuck McMorran, the potential members learned about the group’s three main objectives: raise money for special projects of the library; promote and support the library within the community, and serve as library advocates in legislative initiatives and help in passing library budget referendums.
The teenagers from the advisory council spoke about the importance of books, reading and libraries. Each one discussed a particular book, which made an impact on them.
