Hazardous Weekend Outlook For Part Of The Hudson Valley

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the mid-Hudson Valley. Freezing rain is in the forecast for Orange and Putnam counties. However, Alex Marra and Bill Potter at Hudson Valley Weather said, while most conditions Saturday night should be right for a serious snowstorm, it's still early in the season.

"If you’re a snow lover, this one is gonna sting a bit," they wrote. "If it were late December or early January, this would be a snow event."

Friday night, the National Weather Service said, gusty westerly winds are predicted behind a strong cold front. Gusts could get up to 40 to 45 mph with a few higher gusts.

Then another storm system is expected late Saturday night into Sunday. A light wintry mix and or light snow accumulations are possible for Dutchess and Ulster counties.

Meanwhile, the NWS offered this forecast for northern Westchester:

• Friday night-Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 20s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph, decreasing to 20 mph after midnight.
• Saturday-Sunny. Highs in the mid 40s. West winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Saturday Night-Rain. Lows in the mid 30s. Southwest winds around 5 mph, becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of rain 80 percent.
• Sunday-Rain. Highs in the mid 40s. North winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming northwest 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Chance of rain 80 percent.
• Sunday Night-Partly cloudy with a chance of rain in the evening, then mostly clear after midnight. Lows in the lower 30s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
