Heavy Rain Expected Overnight: Hudson Valley Forecast

Enjoy the sunshine now but don't leave your car windows open overnight ... or for the rest of the week.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A glorious June morning will be followed by a stormy June night across the region, as waves of rain and sun continue into the weekend.

We could get more than an inch of rain from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.

"But once again, it looks like that area of showers will exit the region by mid-morning on Thursday ... which could give us a decent Thursday afternoon," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

Before that, heavy rain could cause traffic delays in the morning, and some roads could be flooded in low-lying urban areas that drain poorly or that take on water in heavy rain situations, said Andrew Johnson-Levine, AccuWeather meteorologist.

"Many areas on the East Coast have also had abnormally high rainfall in recent weeks," he said. "Washington, D.C., received 161% of its normal rainfall in May, while New York City received 114%. With the ground already saturated, it will take less rainfall to lead to flooding issues."
