High Winds, Strong Cold: National Weather Service
A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.
The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement at 7:14AM Wednesday:
A STRONG COLD WILL MOVE ACROSS THE REGION THIS MORNING. IN ITS WAKE...WESTERLY WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 TO 50 MPH ARE LIKELY THROUGH 9 AM. WIND GUSTS WILL SUBSIDE TO THE 30 TO 40 MPH RANGE LATE MORNING INTO AFTERNOON. THE WINDS WILL CAUSE A FEW DOWNED TREE LIMBS AND ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES. DRIVING HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES WILL ALSO BE DIFFICULT.
The high winds have already produced downed wires in New Castle, where police report Roaring Brook Road is closed between Hunting Ridge Road and the Saw Mill River Parkway.
