Hit The Beach! Lifeguards Return To 4 NY Parks This Weekend
Take a day trip! Temps will approach and may top record highs on the first weekend of fall on Long Island.

NEW YORK — If you were hoping for one (or two) more beach days, well, we have some good news for you. Temperatures will approach and may top record highs on the first weekend of fall on Long Island. It will be so warm that lifeguards are heading back to their posts at four state park beaches.
Skies will be sunny with highs in the mid-80s on both Saturday and Sunday. (And don't even get us started about Monday and Tuesday.)
Lifeguards will be on duty at Jones Beach (fields 4 and 6), Robert Moses (fields 2 and 5), Sunken Meadow and Hither Hills state parks from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this weekend.

If you plan on taking a dip, though, be cautious.
"Due to long period swells from both [hurricanes] Jose and Maria, there will be a prolonged period of rough surf at the ocean beaches, with the likelihood of a high risk of rip currents," the National Weather Service says.
