House Ablaze, Firefighters Save Residents
Their heroics including searching the burning home for an elderly resident before the fire engines got there.
NEW CITY, NY — A tale of heroics, performed by a couple of firefighters stopping to save lives and property.
Lieutenant Brendan Wren and Firefighter Thomas Gerlich drove past a house fire and stopped. It was clear no one had called 911 yet, and a quick look showed no one outside. So they did the former and roused the residents. Then they found out an elderly woman was still inside, and Gerlich, an NYPD Officer, went in, searched the house, found her and got her out.
