Hudson Valley Forecast: Frost, Then Warm, Then Chance of Snow

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Thanksgiving week starts off with frosty nights and ends with a possibility of snow showers, but there will be one — just one — beautiful mild day: Thursday.

"It certainly feels like the Holiday Season is upon us in the East where below normal temperatures look to set up shop through Wednesday morning," said the NWS Weather Prediction Center.

If you're headed upstate, expect some lake-effect snow.

Temperatures in the low 40s will give way on Thursday to temps in the low 50s. It'll be sunny, too, perfect for getting outdoors.

Thursday night there's a chance of snow or rain that persists through the morning of Black Friday.

Then temps drop back into the 40s.

Here's the five day forecast from the National Weather Service based on northern Westchester County:

• Monday - Mostly cloudy. Showers likely this morning. Highs in the lower 50s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph this afternoon. Chance of rain 70 percent..
• Monday night - Partly cloudy in the evening, then clearing. Cooler with lows in the upper 20s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the evening.
• Tuesday - Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 40s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
• Tuesday Night - Mostly clear. Areas of frost after midnight. Lows in the mid 20s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
• Wednesday - Sunny. Areas of frost in the morning. Highs in the lower 40s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Wednesday Night - Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 20s.
• Thanksgiving Day - Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 50s.
• Thursday Night - Partly cloudy in the evening, then mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. Lows in the mid 30s. Chance of precipitation 30 percent.
• Friday - Partly sunny. A chance of rain showers in the morning. Highs in the mid 40s. Chance of rain 30 percent.
• Friday Night - Mostly clear in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 20s.
