Hudson Valley: Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued

Saturday afternoon and evening are the times to watch

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Clouds will continue to increase tonight as a cold front slowly approaches from the west, the National Weather Service warns. But it's what is ahead of the front that the NWS has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook about.

"It’s probably best to expect the threat of a shower or storm if you have plans on Saturday," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

Ahead of the front, the chance of showers will increase from west to east late tonight with showers becoming likely across much of the area by early Saturday morning, the NWS said.

While the bulk of the showers will move south and east of area by late Saturday morning, conditions will remain unsettled ahead of the cold front, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms continuing Saturday afternoon and evening.

There is a chance of strong to possibly severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening. The main threat is from gusty winds, though hail up to around quarter in size cannot be ruled out.
