Hudson Valley Weather: Nor'easter Impact on Mother's Day Weekend
The forecast calls for up to 3 inches of rain — but new information suggests there could be a break in the soaking.

For those of you hoping the Nor’easter predicted for Mother’s Day weekend in the Hudson Valley would blow out to sea, new data Thursday indicates that isn’t likely to happen. In fact, the National Weather Service says “confidence is high in a soaking windswept rain during” Saturday to Sunday morning.
"Early projections show 1 to 2… even as much as 3 inches of rain being possible on Saturday. So we’ll have to monitor the threat for flooding as we get closer," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.
But there is new information that indicates that there may be some dry periods this upcoming weekend in the event you have plans to get outdoors.

The storm should keep heading northeast, out of the region. The National Weather Service says winds will increase and peak late Saturday at gusts of 30-40 mph. Even as the rain tapers off early Sunday, it should remain windy. But along with some afternoon showers, there could be breaks in the clouds.
"The progression of the storm on Saturday will help determine the weather on Sunday," Potter said.
