Indictment In Stabbing Death Of Library Security Guard

A grand jury has handed up an indictment of homeless man Blanchard Glaudin.

NEW CITY, NY — Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh, II announced Monday that Blanchard Glaudin, a 25-year-old homeless man, was indicted on one count of second-degree murder in connection with the killing of Sandra Wilson.

"As Rockland County says good bye to Sandra Wilson at her funeral service, I can state that Mr. Glaudin will be held accountable for the horrific murder," Walsh said. "My team will continue its pursuit of justice. I can only hope that this news brings some comfort to the family of Ms. Wilson."

Glaudin is accused of stabbing Wilson in the chest and body at the Finkelstein Library in Spring Valley at 2 p.m. Feb. 18. She had told him he needed to turn down music he was listening to on his phone, police said. Wilson, 52, of Spring Valley, died at Good Samaritan Hospital after the stabbing. After she was attacked, nearby library patrons jumped the man they said had a knife in his hand and held him down till police came.

Arraignment on the indictment is pending.

Glaudin was in the Rockland County Jail from Dec. 20-26 under the name Glaudin Blanchard, after being arrested Nov. 9 on an attempted rape charge while he was a patient at Nyack Montefiore Hospital. He was released because the DA's office did not hold a felony hearing within the six days required by state law, according to news reports.
