UPDATE: Blizzard Warning Expands; Intense Snowfall, Howling Winds, Thundersnow: Hudson Valley's Weather
Snow totals rose for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties and dropped for eastern Long Island and Connecticut.
UPDATE 8PM MONDAY: The National Weather Service also issued a Blizzard Warning for Orange and Putnam counties. The NWS predicts 24 inches of snow most likely for Orange, Putnam and Rockland counties, and up to 24 for Westchester County (the Sound Shore may see less).
UPDATE: The National Weather Service added northern Westchester and Rockland counties and escalated to a Blizzard Warning Monday morning.

The storm is already undergoing bombogenesis, said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather, which has to do with the rapidly deepening pressure of the storm system, more specifically, when the barometric pressure drops by 24mb in less than 24 hours.

Its track will force tremendous amounts of moisture into our region, with snowfall rates reaching 3-5 inches an hour at its height, plus high winds and the possibility of thundersnow.
"The potential with this system is so great, that snow totals on the higher end of this range would not surprise us," Potter said.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The nor'easter barreling our way will bring 12-24 inches of snow to the Hudson Valley, meteorologists predict.
The National Weather Service also updated its Coastal Flood Watch for southern Westchester.
The NWS also updated its Winter Storm Warnings for Orange, Putnam, and the counties in the Mid Hudson Valley.
A Winter Storm Warning for Heavy Snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight...food...and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
