UPDATE: Good News for Swimmers - Lake Nanuet Opens Today at 11 a.m.

Cleanup from last week's rainstorm completed earlier than expected.

Clarkstown Superintendent of  Jo Anne Pedersen announces Lake Nanuet is opening today at 11 a.m.

The water testing that had to be done after the pool was drained and refilled has been completed earlier than anticipated.

"We needed the filters to turn over quite a few times and get the minerals out of the water," says Pedersen. "The pool is looking good, all levels are where they have to be and we will open at 11am today."

The pool was originally scheduled to open last Saturday for the summer season. Lake Nanuet closes at 6:45 p.m.

The pool was flooded with runoff after the massive storm on Thursday, June 23 that dumped several inches of rain on Rockland County in less than two hours. As a result, the pool had to be drained, power washed and refilled. Now the pool is filled and the water has been tested for proper chlorine and Ph levels.

's closure forced families looking to swim and the town’s summer camps to use one of Clarkstown’s two other pool facilities – either Germonds Pool or Congers Pool.
