Dog On The Loose Bites Child, Rescuers
Several people tried to help, Spring Valley police said.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — A dog on the loose in Spring Valley Tuesday bit a child and then a man who came to the rescue. Police said it was "a chaotic scene" when they got there, after receiving several calls to 911.
Witnesses told police the dog began attacking a 1-year-old and several Good Samaritans tried to stop the attack. The dog bit a 29-year-old and severely damaged his arm. Then someone else got the dog under restraint. Police arrived and put the dog in a patrol car. Hatzolah Ambulance took the victims to local hospitals.
The dog was taken to the Hi Tor animal shelter where it is being quarantined. Police said they have tentatively have identified the owner and are continuing to investigate.
