Man With 'Lengthy Criminal History' Admits To Felony Gun Possession, Resisting Arrest: Rockland DA
He "twisted his body, flailed his legs, and threw himself on the ground," refusing to let himself be put into the police car, cops said.

TOWN OF HAVERSTRAW, NY — A Rockland County man who tried his level best to avoid the consequences of his actions will now have to face the music.
District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II says that 32-year-old Daquan Kelly, of the Village of Haverstraw, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and resisting arrest.
On July 24 of last year, around 11 p.m., Kelly was found with a loaded firearm. While being arrested, "he twisted his body, flailed his legs, and threw himself on the ground, refusing to allow himself to be placed into the police vehicle," according to the DA.

The DA noted that Kelly has a lengthy criminal history, including a 2022 conviction for second-degree criminal contempt, a 2015 felony conviction for second-degree attempted robbery, and a 2012 felony conviction for third-degree robbery.
Kelly is scheduled for sentencing on June 9. While a sentence of 10 years in state prison will be recommended, the DA said that the court is anticipated to impose eight years for second-degree criminal possession of a firearm, two to four years in state prison for third-degree criminal possession, and one year for resisting arrest, all to run concurrently.
