Manhattan Man, 19, Charged in Clarkstown Stabbing Death

Michael Wimbert, 66, was killed Tuesday morning.

Manhattan resident Dylan Lentini, 19, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of 66-year-old Michael Wimbert, according to Clarkstown police.

Wimbert was found dead at about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday morning in the multifamily home on Demarest Avenue in West Nyack where he resided. Prior to the discovery, Lentini was seen running from the house yelling for someone to “call 911.”

Police apprehended Lentini, who was bleeding from a laceration wound to his hand, a short while later, reports The Journal News.

The circumstances surrounding the killing were still being pieced together Wednesday afternoon. Lentini told police he had been staying at a homeless shelter in New York City, Covenant House, but how he ended up at the West Nyack home had not yet been disclosed.

John Wall, who owns the multifamily where Wimbert lived, told The Journal News that Wimbert was a caring individual who often tried to help people.

“I presume (he) might have been helping this young man,” Wall told The Journal News. “He was a calm and peaceful soul.”

Lentini, who was being held without bail, was scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
